Knit the Winter Away!

I have decided that a large part of the reason I haven't been keeping up with my blog much lately has to do with the fact that I've been doing a lot of knitting. I didn't actually realize just how much until I went and opened all my projects to add to this post. Since the beginning of December I have completed nine projects. A few of them were projects I'd started a while ago, some of them were Christmas presents, and others were projects that the very cold winter we've been having inspired me to make. And so, without further ado, here are all the things I've been making recently. (Click on the caption to be taken to the Ravelry page for more pictures, the patterns, and all the rest of the details.)

I finally finished my black arm warmers and brown hat, both of which I started quite a while ago.

For Christmas, I made this card and clean/dirty dishwasher sign for Mum, a cowl for Bamma, and these slippers for Joanne.

Mike mentioned that he wanted to get a new winter scarf and I jumped at the chance to knit him one. I found some nice bulky alpaca blend yarn to make it out of and finally settled on a pattern. This scarf was the result:

He's been wearing it a lot, so I take that as I sign he likes it! I liked the yarn I made his out of so much that I decided to make a big, thick cowl out of it for myself. I was worried that I wouldn't finish it until it warmed up too much to wear it, but it's been very cold again, so I've been wearing it a lot.

The other thing I made for myself this winter that I've been wearing a lot is this black, lacey, slouchy hat. I really loved the pattern and I've been very happy with how it turned out. It fits me perfectly, and since it's black it goes with pretty much everything I own.

And that is what I've been up to for the past few months. Lots of theatre and lots of knitting. The latest project I started is another cowl (can you tell I've fallen in love with cowls?). It is my first project using Juniper Moon Farm yarn and I couldn't be more excited. I will be sure to post about it when it's finished.

I've also been helping Lauria out a lot with Juniper Moon Farm things, including a photoshoot we did in December. I modeled a few garments for their Zooey Collection and one thing for the new Viroqua Collection in Moonshine. I already have plans to make the Yaz Caplet/Cowl from the Zooey Collection and the Bailey Boatneck Pullover from the Viroqua Collection. I just liked wearing them for the photo shoot so much that I want to be able to wear them all the time! The other thing I've been helping Lauria out with is the JMF Year at the Farm Sock Club. You get a hand dyed skein of sock yarn each month in adorable hand assembled packaging. (Can you guess who helps with the packaging?) I'm exited to help her with next quarter's yarns next week. Maybe I'll even post about it! I can't post about the colors though because, you know, spoilers!
